Smokejack embodies a passion for America’s greatest culinary tradition – BARBEQUE!!! Before opening Smokejack in 2004, owner Dave Filipowicz travelled across “barbeque country” to explore the various regional styles of barbeque. Dave discovered the rich sweetness of Kansas City, the complex seasonings of Memphis, the spicy kick of Texas, the zesty tanginess of Georgia and the Carolinas, and the savory touch of Alabama. Smokejack features each of these unique styles of barbeque so that our guests can tour “barbeque country” for themselves.
Chef Bio – Chef Johnny Umberger has been with Smokejack since our doors opened in 2004. He brings to Smokejack a diverse culinary background and a creative use of flavor. In designing Smokejack’s menu, Dave and Johnny interweaved traditional barbeque flavors with some more modern and imaginative tastes. The result is a menu that is “a little old and a little new” but all made with the care and attention to details that Smokejack’s guests expect.
